LeBron James reinvigorated the Lakers with a triumph that had eluded them since Kobe Bryant’s 2010 championship victory. His achievement of securing the Lakers’ 17th championship in 2020 left an indelible impression on numerous players, including breakout star Austin Reaves, who viewed him as the GOAT.

In a recent Sports Illustrated interview, Austin Reaves expressed his belief that LeBron merits a statue for his transformative impact on the Lakers. Reaves acknowledged that Lebron arrived during a time of the Lakers’ struggles and, within just two years, elevated the franchise to the point of hanging a championship banner.

According to Reaves, LeBron stands as the greatest player in basketball history and thus warrants a statue. He said, “He came to LA at a time where wasn’t having much success, and 2-3 years put a banner in the rafters, so why not? In my opinion, he’s the greatest player to ever play the game.”

Although Lakers owner Jeanie Buss has confirmed that LeBron’s jersey will be retired and will find its place in the rafters once he enters the Hall of Fame, the prospect of him receiving a statue alongside Lakers legends such as Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and Shaquille O’Neal remains intriguing.
