When two teams with star players compete, the game is always a treat for the fans. Similarly, on Saturday, the Los Angeles Lakers played against the Golden State Warriors.

As the two teams are 9th and 10th seeds in the Western Conference, the game was a battle to secure the spot in the play-ins. However, as expected, the two stars of the game were the main topic of discussion in the NBA world.

Two of the best players in the current NBA, LeBron James and Stephen Curry, matched up in another head-to-head battle. James tied for his season-high of 40 points in the game. Curry scored 31 points and took the win in a Warriors team effort.

However, interestingly enough, the game had one of the most unusual endings in the league ever. The final two minutes of the 4th quarter took 23 minutes as the referees took time to review the plays, and there were issues regarding the shot clock.

With two and a half minutes left in the last quarter, the Golden State Warriors took a seven-point lead. On the next possession, James came to the rescue and scored an important corner three-pointer to cut down the lead. But the play was reviewed by the referees, and the footage showed James was out of the court. Hence, the referees took away the three points with James’ potential season-high of 41 points.

In the post-game interview, the 39-year-old talked about the incident. The player, along with fans, was surprised to see the three-pointer taken away.

I’ve never seen that be called before like that in that particular time. That was kind of weird.

Taking away the three points certainly affected the Los Angeles Lakers as the team lost the game.

The Warriors vs Lakers game had the most bizarre ending

Every game this season between the two superstars has been a treat for NBA fans. Being two of the most experienced players in the league, the duo certainly gives the toughest competition to each other. The teams have had many close games this season and unreal endings. But the ending of Saturday’s game was unusual for a different reason.

The referees took more than usual time to review as they reviewed two plays at the same time. After that, the game’s shot clock had issues as it stopped running despite the game clock running. The officials had to stop the Lakers’ possession four times due to the issue. After failing a few times, the officials ended up using the stopwatch to resume the game.

The last two minutes of the game took exactly 23 minutes and 27 seconds. The game pausing multiple times frustrated not only the fans but the players and coaches as well. In the last one and a half minutes, the Lakers could not outscore the Warriors and lost the game 128-121.
