LeBron James is expected to miss a number of games over the next three weeks due to a foot injury. James was spotted saying he heard a pop after injuring his foot against the Dallas Mavericks. Despite the injury, he continued the game and played another quarter. Over the rest of the quarter, it was evident that he was uncomfortable. There is considerable concern that the Los Angeles Lakers player may be sidelined for several weeks as a result of his injury.
This isn’t the first time the four-time NBA champion has been sidelined due to a foot injury. Interestingly, for the majorityΒ of the season, he has been listed as probable owing to a right foot injury. Yet, he has continued toΒ played through injuries. The latest injury, though, appears to be troubling for Laker Nation. After the win over Dallas, James was seen hobbling out of the arena, indicating the severity of the injury.Β
Except for the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, the team’s next few games are against mostly play-in teams. On Wednesday, they face the Oklahoma City Thunder, on Friday, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and on Sunday, the Golden State Warriors. Without the 19-time NBA All-Star, it would be difficult for the Lakers to win games and be a playoff contender. Despite an improved roster, the Lakers would still require their leaderΒ to be on the floor to win those games.

What does LeBron Jamesβ injury mean for the Lakers?

The Lakers’ final four games of the season are the most difficult. They would undoubtedly require the superstar player to be available on the roster during that stretch. Over this period, they will face the Utah Jazz twice, the Los Angeles Clippers once, and the Phoenix Suns once. While James is likely to return before these games, the Lakers could really use him in the next four games to improve their regular season record.
Statistically, the Lakers are 5-9 without James, which includes Davis’ amazing run. The issue this time is that the big manΒ isn’t himself and isn’t in the best of shape. Furthermore, only JamesΒ and Dennis Schroder are aware of how, where, and when to feed Davis on the floor. In hisΒ absence, the Lakers would also be without a ball handler, but that is just part of the story. Because of AD and James’ domination in the paint, the Lakers score a substantial amount of their points there. It remains to be known, though, if the The KingΒ can switch it again.
