“I’d question going back to US” LeBron James critical on US efforts of getting Brittney Griner home 

LeBron James is one of the many NBA stars who have been vocal about the detention of WNBA star Brittney Griner in Russia. Been over 4 months that the US Olympics Gold Medallist was captured at Moscow Airport on drug charges, it seems like Joe Biden and his administration have always been on the back foot. Especially now after knowing that Griner pleaded guilty to all the charges imposed against her. 

With a possible 10-year jail-time in her sight, LeBron James stated that is he were Brittney, he would question even coming back to United States as the country surely hasn’t had her back over this crucial period of time. On the latest trailer of ‘The Shop’, LeBron revealed his true feelings in a short clip released.

“How can she feel like America has her back?” LeBron James questioned. “I would be feeling, like, ‘Do I even want to go back to America?’” 

It’s unclear when the episode was filmed, but the NBA superstar’s comments were released days after Phoenix Mercury Coach Vanessa Nygaard mentioned James while speaking about Griner’s situation.

“If it was LeBron, he’d be home, right?” Nygaard said during a news conference last week. “It’s a statement about the value of women. It’s a statement about the value of a Black person. It’s a statement about the value of a gay person. All of those. We know it.”

In an open letter sent in the month of June, Griner pleaded to the officials to take all necessary steps in order to get her back home. Moreover, her wife even has condemned Joe Biden for not been vocal to her about all the updates. That being said, this is not the first time LeBron has raised his voice for Griner. In June, the Los Angeles Lakers star shared a tweet calling on President Biden and Vice President Harris to “bring Brittney home swiftly and safely by taking action today.”
