The feud between LeBron James and Dillon Brooks took another turn during Game 3 of the series. The Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Memphis Grizzlies with the series tied 1-1. Game 2 featured a heated exchange between the Lakers superstar and the Grizzlies player. However, Game 3 took the churned relationship between the two to a new level. Brook and James were seen exchanging words before the game even started during the pre-game routine. Fans and critics, therefore, rightfully expected a spicy game from the two.

As the Grizzlies trailed by a healthy margin, the competition heated up during the third quarter. With the atmosphere charged up both Brooks and James were playing in their highest competitive spirit. The third quarter had barely started when the Grizzlies forward knocked a nasty blow to the Lakers star in the groin. James was visibly in discomfort and after examination, Brook was ejected on the pretext of a flagrant two.

The Lakers forward was then asked about his views on the situation. He replied saying he doesn’t need to make any statements as his numbers over the years are enough to speak for themselves.“Nah, I’ve been doing this too long. I’m making no statements,” LeBron James said when asked if he had anything to say about the Dillon Brooks situation. “We just want to play well. We gotta win and we’re gonna try to do that in Game 4 as well,” he said further clarifying his point “I don’t need to make statements.”

“My resume, what I’ve done for this league speaks for itself. So, I don’t really get caught up in any comments like that. My focus is to my teammates and us trying to figure out a way how we can beat the Memphis Grizzlies…That’s what I’ve always been about and that’s what that matters,” he said.

The Lakers have certainly built a good postseason momentum. Leading the series 2-1 James and Co. will go into Game 4 looking to build on it further. After all, playing at home, the atmosphere of the fans’ support is enough to uplift those in yellow. Moreover, the James-Brooks feud has further heightened the spirits of every player, fan and supporter of Los Angeles.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been the two prime front-runners of the LA-based franchise. However, this season, the young brigade of the team has also fired beyond expectations. DeAngelo Russell has consistently been playing impressively and Austin Reaves has set the latter half ablaze with his performance. Moreover, Rui Hachimura has been an excellent asset for the Lakers.

The Lakers look pretty solid going into Game 4. However, the Grizzlies aren’t going to give up that easily. Memphis has a fair shot at levelling the series 2-2 in the next game. They are certainly not those who shy away from high-pressure challenges. The winner of this series will play the winner between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. It can be safe to assume, that both the Lakers and the Grizzlies will put their best foot forward to advance to the Conference Semi-Finals.
