The Los Angeles Lakers fell short of making it to the playoffs. The team was in the headlines after the superteam, which many predicted will be dominating the league this season, failed to even make it to the playoffs. But this time, the Lakers are in the headlines for a different purpose.
Lakers superstar, LeBron James recently became the highest paid athlete in the world. In a list dominated by football players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar, LeBron James ranks first.

LeBron James breaks an another record
The 18-time All-Star earned $127 million during the past 12 months from the Lakers and his expanding off-court deals, business and investments. In his two-decade career, LeBron has bagged more bills than any other athlete on the planet.
The top 5 includes LeBron James, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Canelo Alvarez.
To put a price tag on LeBron’s game and impact would be a crime but it is safe to say that the feat is well deserved. For a player who is debated alongside NBA legend Micheal Jordan, no deal is quite justified enough.
Even at age 37, when most players retire, LeBron is still going strong. No matter what the haters and critics say, LeBron has managed to prove us all wrong by defying Father time, and dropping 50 piece game. He hit several clutch shots, layups and passes. The impact that he has on the court cannot be justified by numbers. His experience has helped the team set plays and execute them with perfection.
There is no hiding the fact that LeBron led-Lakers failed to make it to the playoffs but blaming LeBron for the failure is wrong. The team, despite having the pieces, did not have the right pieces to build a team for championship contention. To add up, Anthony Davis was ruled out for a major part of the season due to his injuries, and LeBron too had his fair share of injuries.
