LeBron James forming another SUPERTEAM? Lakers superstar ‘eyes’ return to Olympics after Team USA’s embarrassing performance at FIBA World Cup
LeBron James suggests the possibility of creating another superteam and rejoining Team USA's Olympic roster, in response to their inability to win gold at the FIBA World Cup.

NBA fans were shocked as Team USA was eliminated in the semi-finals of the FIBA World Cup by Germany in a close game where they lost 113-111. Team USA had high expectations as they were considered title favorites, boasting multiple All-Stars on the roster, but they failed, leaving fans disappointed.
This isn’t the first time Team USA has failed to win FIBA gold; they have only won it twice in the last five World Cups but have secured the Olympic gold medal four times consecutively since the Redeem Team sought revenge in 2008. This loss might encourage top NBA players to step up and participate in next year’s Olympics and form another superteam and win gold. LeBron James, a former member of the Redeem Team, might have already confirmed a spot on next year’s Olympic squad.
After their loss, a graphic featuring the top players from the US was circulating on social media, with players like LeBron, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry mentioned. In response, LeBron posted a “?” hinting at his return to the Olympics after being away from the national team since the 2012 Olympic run when he won gold. If all the top USA players team up for next year’s Olympic Games, it could become a one-sided tournament, given the talent Team USA will have.

Why did Team USA fail at the FIBA World Cup 2023?
The expectations for Team USA were to go undefeated and win the gold medal with ease, given the talent they had on the team. They had the Defensive Player of the Year in Jaren Jackson Jr., as well as All-Stars like Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, and Brandon Ingram. However, when it came to performing when it mattered most, many of them fell silent, especially BI, who had a horrible tournament and faced criticism from the fans.
Another reason could be coaching errors made by veteran championship-winning coaches like Steve Kerr, Erik Spoelstra, and Tyronn Lue. The team was heavily deficient in rebounding, to the point where a center from the other team was outrebounding the forwards and center of Team USA.
Changes weren’t made to the lineup, even though Walker Kessler, an elite rim protector and rebounder, was available to play. Overall, this year’s World Cup was a failed campaign for Team USA, and fans will be hoping for a better performance in next year’s Olympic Games.
