“Cats have definitely gotten away with nastier records” – LeBron James suspects FOUL play as Trae Young gets snubbed off from All-Star
Trae Young has put up 27 points and 10.9 assists per game this season, generally enough to get an All-Star berth.

The NBA announced its All-Star players for the upcoming All-Star weekend. While some players could not make the cut, one noticeable missing piece was highlighted by the face of the league. LeBron James came out to question why Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young did not get selected despite a stellar year.
Trae Young is having a brilliant year as the leading playmaker for the Hawks. He has been the focal point of the offense for the Hawks. Moreover, his numbers are astounding. The way the All-Star voting has been redone, many people cannot get their heads around how players are selected. It seems, James also could not figure it out. He mentioned this while talking about Young on Twitter;
Cause it can’t be about Ws/Ls cause cats have definitely gotten in with wayyy nastier records in the past. He be cooking EVERY NIGHT! Stop it! He’s an All-Star, for sure. Something is REAL fishy.

James was replying to a comment he saw on Twitter where the user was trying to figure out the reason for Young’s exclusion. James could not understand why the Hawks’ superstar was not an All-Star.
Last year, Trae Young was left out of the All-Star squad despite putting up incredible numbers. This year, he has bettered those numbers but still could not find his way on the team. In contrast, other players who have worse statistics have been selected for this year’s squad. Young’s averages this season are 27 points, 2.9 rebounds, 10.9 assists, and 1.4 steals, despite which he has been subjected to criticism.
One point that has seemingly gone against Young is that the Hawks have a losing record. Many analysts have argued that it is not Young’s fault that the Hawks are in this position. But it seems Young is a victim of circumstances.
LeBron James believes Trae Young has done enough for an All-Star call
Trae Young came into the league as a young lights-out scorer. The 6’1″ point guard ended up with the Hawks after a draft night trade with the Dallas Mavericks. Since coming into the league, he has provided elite-level production. This season, Young has put together 25+ points and 10+ assists per game, his second such campaign in a row. This is also his second straight All-Star snub.

Such kind of numbers usually guarantee at least a reserve spot in the All-Star roster. Young’s career average in points is more than Orlando Magic’s Paolo Banchero could this season. Banchero is a first-time All-Star this season.
So, James’ quote does make some sense, even though it is clear the teams’ fortunes also played a major role in the voting. However, Trae Young can still find solace in the fact that LeBron James believes he deserved to be an All-Star.
