“I don’t have much time left…” LeBron James gets honest about door closing on spectacular NBA career
LeBron James is currently the oldest player in the NBA and might not play another five years in the league.

The Los Angeles Lakers LeBron James has played 21 amazing years in the NBA. The player has built quite a legacy as one of the greatest players in the game. However, being the oldest player in the league, the star’s journey might come to an end in the not-too-distant future.
LeBron James opened up about his future as an NBA player after the game against the Brooklyn Nets. In the post-game interview, a reporter asked the 39-year-old how much longer he could play in the league. Despite not having a precise answer of when James believed that the last dance could arrive soon.
Not very long.… I’m not gonna play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure. But not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I’ll retire. But I don’t have much time left.LeBron James via post-game interview
This is not the first time James has spoken about his retirement. James revealed he wanted to retire as a Laker during the All-Star weekend. The star has even considered going on a farewell tour. However, he does not have any plans for when and how the farewell will take place. His playing form has not dipped in any way. Hence, one could assume James had another two years before retiring.
The star’s age and tenure do not come in the way of him giving his fans spectacular performances. James gave another spectacular performance against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. In the win, the Los Angeles Lakers forward scored 40 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in just 37 minutes. James’ son Bronny James will likely impact any plans ‘King James’ has for retirement.
LeBron James’ dream to play alongside Bronny might not happen next season
Early last year, James spoke about his desire to play with his son Bronny James in an interview with ESPN. Regardless of teammates or opponents, the star expressed his wish to be on the basketball court with Bronny.

However, Bronny may have to wait for a while to fulfill the dream. The star’s son was dropped by ESPN from the 2024 NBA mock draft earlier this year. The chances of any team picking Bronny this year remain uncertain. The USC Trojans guard might have to wait until next year if that happens. So far, James’ son has not declared for the draft.
Bronny’s cardiac arrest back in July might have temporarily affected his trajectory. After missing two months, the guard has averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists this season. But the hope is not lost, as the Lakers have shown interest in signing Bronny despite the removal from the mock draft. Only time will tell if the fans will get to see the father-son duo on the court together next season.
