Lebron James is very happy with Scottie Pippen Jr's progress

The 2022 NBA Draft came with expectations and seemed to break them all, and it certainly brought a lot of glamour. Lebron James just got to see a glimpse of the future of the Lakers and was quite convinced that it is in safe hands. the LA Lakers signed Scotty Pippen Jr. to a two-way contract and had Shareef O’Neal agree to play for them in the Summer League after the end of the draft. The two undrafted players, sons of former stalwarts, Scottie Pippen and Shaquille O’Neal, will now cherish the Lakers uniform.

The Lakers are getting all the limelight this postseason, however they have appointed Darvin Ham as their new Head Coach for the 2022-2023 season, to make amends. They get to grips with their disastrous season and had been looking for change in personnel. The Los Angeles Lakers star-studded team not making into the playoffs was and has been one of the biggest talking points in and around the world of NBA. With One of the All-Time Greats, LeBron James himself, and two future Hall of Famers in Anthony Davis and freshly traded, Russell Westbrook, the Lakers looked scary on paper, not so much on court.

The 2022 NBA Draft presented many good players that can do interesting things in the league. We saw many interesting trades and takes on roster full of young players, however one of the most intriguing things was when the sons of two NBA legends made it to the league through the draft. Scotty Pippen Jr. and Shareef O’Neal didn’t hear their names called by commissioner Adam Silver, but they have agreed contracts with the Los Angeles giants.

Vanderbilt guard Scotty Pippen Jr, son of Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen heads to Los Angeles, joining the Lakers on a two-way contract. During Friday’s Summer League game between the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns, Pippen Jr. recorded 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. LA lost the tie, but Pippen Jr. left a mark on the game.

It’s as if Pippen Jr. knew he had to bring his A-game to this match, as Lebron James and other distinguished members from the Lakers family were in attendance to cheer these young lads. At one point, after the former Vanderbilt star stumbled to the ground following an acrobatic finish through contact, James rushed over to help the 21-year-old to his feet.

If he continues this upward trajectory, there is a possibility of him being named to the Lakers roster. And that would allow him to continue his father, Scottie Pippen’s legacy in the NBA. Also, it would be interesting to see if he could help LeBron James, like Pippen Sr. helped Michael Jordan. Unsurprisingly, Pippen Sr. was in attendance to support his son.

The Lakers had a drastically poor record of 33-49 , as they move on from this nightmarish season , they will have to make plenty of moves to get back on track. As LeBron gets ready for the upcoming season, the team will have to give him more reinforcements to bring back the legacy of the Lakers. Scottie Pippen Jr. seems to be one such move in the right direction and Lebron James would surely love to go balling with the Vanderbilt guard.
