“They just wanted to play ball” LeBron James hails the dedication of the Cavs’ current roster

Cavaliers and LeBron James

LeBron James’ former team Cleveland Cavaliers despite their 5 games losing streak are in the 4th spot in Eastern Conference this season. This is perhaps the first time the Cavaliers are performing this good without LeBron James. After leaving Cleveland, James joined Los Angeles Lakers and won his 4th championship with Anthony Davis and Co. It is beyond doubt that LeBron’s jersey would retire and hang on Cleveland’s rafters. After the loss against the Cavaliers, James had high praise for the Cleveland team’s young stars like Mobley, Darius Garland, and others.

Every time LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers meet it is always a show for the fans to watch. LeBron has made sure in his career that he shows up to the game and put on a show, but the last time the Lakers and the Cavaliers met, for LeBron it was a bad memory to live with. Although LeBron scored team high 27 points it was not enough for him to get over the hump of the Cleveland Cavaliers which has a better depth than the Los Angeles Lakers.

After the match, James had high praise for his former team’s squad. He said, “I’m looking at their roster and don’t see too many guys all over social media, showing off that they’ve got this and they’ve got that.” LeBron further added, “Just a bunch of guys that come to work and just want to play ball.” The Cavaliers defeated the Lakers 100-114, with Donovan Mitchell scoring 33 points in 37 minutes. As James pointed out, the Cavaliers are locked in to make the playoffs and make this season successful.

LeBron also took a candid jab at his long-time friend Kevin Love, calling him ‘grandpa’. Referring to Love, LeBron hilariously added, “they have a grandpa watching over it all in Kevin Love.” Kevin Love and LeBron James won the championship with the Cavs beating the Golden State Warriors in the finals. Love was the crucial piece of that Cavs team and made some historic plays with the team, the most historic being his defense against Stephen Curry to seal Game 7 for the Cavaliers.

LeBron James, Lakers still have a chance to make this season successful

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are going through some historical bad records this season. So far into the season, this is the worst record LeBron’s team has gone through. The Lakers have 3rd worst winning record in the NBA. Though it is early in the season, they have been bad on both ends of the floor and perhaps the Laker faithful have also lost their last ounce of hope with LeBron’s injury.

However, there are still chances that the Lakers might be able to make the playoffs. With the recent development in the roster, there is a chance that LeBron James and Co can turn things around. A new update from the Lakers; Thomas Bryant and Dennis Schroder are expected to be cleared for Friday after evaluation. Dennis can provide an alternate ball handler for LeBron James and take some load off of him. He can score the ball in multiple ways and is more than capable to make 3-point shots in the game. Thomas Bryant can provide the Lakers protection on the defensive glass and some extra opportunities on the offensive glass.

Moreover, the biggest news came from the organization that LeBron James has started the practice, although it is non-contact. This certainly is big for the Lakers right now, after seeing Anthony Davis find his old groove in absence of LeBron James.
