Joel Embiid and Karl Anthony-Towns posted super high numbers in their respective matches tonight. This level of performance was appreciated by the entire basketball world. However, getting appreciation as the all-time scoring record holder was even more special.
After Joel Embiid dropped 70 points en route to a win against the San Antonio Spurs, LeBron James shared a tweet to applaud the Philadelphia 76ers superstar. He said;
70 PIECE NUGGET!!!! CRAZY

Soon after, when the Minnesota Timberwolves’ game against the Charlotte Hornets closed the 3rd quarter, 58 points showed beside Karl Anthony-Towns’ name in the box score. This led James to tweet out a second time. This time he wrote;
KAT got 58 at the end of the 3rd! 10-12 from 3 so far. These boys tonight going CRAZY!!
LeBron James is known to appreciate greatness when he sees it. So these tweets from him show that he acknowledges the efforts of the two superstars in their respective matchups.
Throughout his 21-year career, LeBron James has witnessed a lot of great individual performances. But now, after all the accolades he himself has won, he seldom fails to compliment his fellow colleagues. James being the megastar that he is, knows how difficult it is to put up these kinds of numbers in the league.
The all-time leading scorer has never reached the levels of either of these two players in his career. His highest score in a game was 61 in 2014, 10 years ago. Now in the final years of his long career, James knows it will not be easy for him to beat that mark. So he is appreciative of those who can.
How the two big men lit up the NBA today
Joel Embiid had a historic night. He piled up 70 points, 18 rebounds, and 5 assists to lead his 76ers to a win over the Spurs. Such was his domination that his production was enough to cover 6 of the 10 players the Spurs fielded. Embiid broke the franchise record for most points scored in a game in the process.

Karl Anthony-Towns on the other hand scored a franchise-record 62 points. He also grabbed 8 rebounds and 2 assists. But his career-defining play did not help the Timberwolves win against the Hornets. The Hornets rallied in the fourth quarter to deny Anthony-Towns the perfect ending to his historic night.
These two players balled out. And the King appreciated their hard work. That is a lot of respect coming from one of the greatest of all time.
