What happens if one is found with marijuana in the USA
A total of 38 states have legalized the medical use of cannabis to varying degrees, as of July 2022, according to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. The District of Columbia and the territories of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the US Virgin Islands have all legalized medical marijuana as per reports.
Each jurisdiction has its own criteria regarding what conditions marijuana can be prescribed for, at what amounts, and the process for issuing medical marijuana licenses to qualified residents.
E.g., Marijuana is legal in Florida when used by talented individuals for medicinal purposes; it is still illegal. Anyone who has not received their medical marijuana card from an authorized health care provider caught with marijuana in their possession could face serious charges and penalties depending on their amount.
