LeBron James received quite a surprise as he scrolled through his Instagram feed. The renowned 39-year-old basketball star was taken aback to discover that, despite commencing his career back in 2003, he is now just the second-oldest player in the league.

James was caught off guard when he stumbled upon a Sportscenter graphic that revealed a surprising truth. King James was astonished to discover that his long-time Warriors rival, Andre Iguodala, now holds the distinction of being the oldest player in the NBA.

Andre Iguodala, aged 39 years and 171 days, is currently the NBA’s oldest active player. LeBron James, at 38 years and 200 days, is a close second. LeBron’s confusion about the list might be because Udonis Haslem retired at the age of 42 this year. Haslem was widely recognized as the league’s oldest player, but the discussion of who held the second spot was less prominent.

James took to Instagram to joke about the list, uploading the post in his story with the caption, “Who’s 1st?? Thought I was the (oldest).” A few fans have pointed out that Iguodala already retired last season, making James the oldest in the league.

It was true that Iguodala contemplated hanging it up last season, but the 39-year-old had a change of heart. The former NBA Finals MVP is exploring for his next destination. The Warriors are the front-runners, but the Lakers are also in contention to sign Iggy.

Despite LeBron James being the second oldest in the league, age does not seem to bother him. James last season took the short-handed Lakers to the Western Conference Finals and only lost to the reigning champs in Denver Nuggets.

Although he was drafted in 2003, the King is still a top-10 talent in the league, making both the All-NBA and All-Star team last season. He also broke Kareem’s All-Time scoring record, all while averaging 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per contest.

James is the only remaining player of the 2003 NBA draft class after Carmelo Anthony retired a few months ago. However, the King is not looking to withdraw from the game of basketball just yet.
