It may sound too early to say it but it seems the Los Angeles Lakers seem to be regaining their rhythm after a series of losses. The past few months haven’t been the best for both LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. 4 losses in a row and in dire need of a win, the Lakers finally registered their first win of 2024 against city rivals LA Clippers.
While the highlight of the game was the win itself, one particular segment involving the likes of LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard ended up going viral. The Los Angeles Lakers defeated a rather toothless Clippers side by a narrow 106-103 scoreline. In what turned out to be the LeBron James show, he was not only able to put up 25 points but even managed to lockdown Kawhi Leonard, who scored 0 points on the night when guarded by the 39-year-old.
From the time LeBron James started guarding Kawhi Lenord in that game, the Clippers superstar didn’t have a sniff of a bucket. He tried everything from within the paint to corner threes, but LeBron did not let his man go. Fortunately for Leonard, he did manage to end the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds, which obviously wasn’t enough to secure them a win.
LeBron’s epic dunk sends a clear message
There is no denying or shying away from the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been in the best of form. Since winning the inaugural In-Season tournament, things have gone all downhill for them. But their recent game against the LA Clippers may be a sign of hope.
After a narrow 106-103 win over their city rivals, it was a joyous occasion for the Laker fans. So much so that even LeBron entered the party with an outrageous dunk during the game, sending a clear message.
In the 3rd quarter of the game, LeBron provided a “poster stamp” dunk over Paul George, showcasing his confidence coming into 2024. For the entirety of the game, LeBron James was simply unplayable. From breaking defenses to showing his side of the defense, the “King” ran the show as they finally got their long-awaited win for this year.
It remains unclear as to what this Lakers team will display going forward in the season. And the question arises, will they be able to launch a title challenge? For the In-Season champions to cross this hurdle may be a big ask, but not an impossible task, considering the kind of talent they possess. They have done it before. And they could do it again. But will they? Only time can tell.
