Thursday’s event, there was no gun involved, but still was brutal and raised questions over the security. According to a report by Jim Mackinnon of Akron Beacon Journal, Liming was found unresponsive by police near the basketball courts of the school.

As per the Akron, police reports Liming was with friends who pulled into the school parking lot. The group then got into a fight with at least three other males. Those people were on the property playing basketball, police said. Liming was knocked unconscious and also “brutally assaulted,” said the reporting police. Liming’s friends present at the premises rushed home, and called 911 for help. Police and medics who arrived found Liming unresponsive with what was described as severe injuries.

The teenager, Ethan Liming, died of blunt force trauma to the head, Gary Guenther, chief investigator at the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, told McClatchy News. Liming was a student at Firestone Community Learning Center, a public high school in Akron, Ohio, Akron police Lt. Michael Miller told McClatchy.

The people involved in the June 2 incident, though not identified, are not believed to be students at the I Promise School, Miller said. Liming was a junior in high school and a baseball player, as per the Facebook posts related to the teenager. A vigil was organized at the Firestone school baseball field for the night of June 3.

LeBron James Family Foundation, which made the news social on Twitter, already ensured that the premises are secure for people. They mentioned – “Our @IPROMISESchool campus is safe and secure as we continue to do everything we can to support our students, families, and the entire Akron community.”
