A star-studded list of first-time eligible candidates for the Class of 2023 was revealed by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Wednesday. The nominees are Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Gregg Popovich, Dwyane Wade, and the 1976 U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team.

LeBron James was one of many people who rejoiced over Dwyane Wade, a legendary member of the Miami Heat, getting inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame next summer. James tweeted his congratulations to Wade and his assurance that he will be admitted. James said, “Congrats to my brother @DwyaneWade on being on the eligible candidate HOF list!! I mean he ain’t no candidate, he’s IN!!!!! Hahaha!”

Dwyane Wade won three titles while playing with the Miami Heat, where he spent the majority of his lengthy career. He also won the NBA Finals MVP award in 2006, has been selected to the NBA All-Star team 13 times, and won a gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Since entering the NBA in 2003, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has shared the court with a number of iconic players. But his tenure with the Miami Heat, when he led them to four straight NBA Finals and twice won the title, will likely go down as his most successful period. In 2012 and 2013, James was voted the Finals MVP, but he had plenty of support from Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade.

The King’s positioning next to Wade was initially debatable, but the two finally found success once Wade gave James the majority of the ball-handling and playmaking responsibilities. Wade, however, excelled playing off the ball next to James as a supplementary scorer and held his own.

The two athletes were close both on and off the court, and they are still good friends now. James was among the first to congratulate Wade on his Twitter account when the news of his nomination for the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Class of 2023 first surfaced.
