In light of recent events, the NBA legend and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James reacted to the current Houston Rockets Dillon Brooks contract. Despite the rivalry that happened between Brooks, during his time with his former team, the Memphis Grizzlies, and James in the 2023 playoffs, LeBron praised the Rockets’ star for his contract and said that he earned it.
In a media interaction admitted that his positive comments about Dillon Brooks’s contract had nothing to do with the rivalry they had since the Lakers-Grizzles playoff series. James said that he wishes to leave things in the past and move on, showing his sportsmanship and respect for his fellow players’ achievements in the NBA.
Hours before the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets, James in media interaction, applauded Dillon Brooks for achieving his remarkable $86 million contract with the Rockets and gave credit to his competitiveness for this. James said,
I think in his case, he was worthy of the contract that he got. He's put in the work since he came out of Oregon and that's where Houston found value in him, and he's here.
The rivalry between Brooks and James started during the playoffs when Dillon Brooks decided to aim a shot and poke LeBron James by calling him old for the league in his media interactions during his time with the Memphis Grizzlies. But at the end of it, it didn’t go so well for Brooks as at the end of the playoffs, his former team was eliminated by the end of six games.
Dillon Brooks ready to go at LeBron James again this season
Brooks was traded to the Houston Rockets through a three-team trade with the Grizzlies, involving the Atlanta Hawks, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Ahead of the match of the Lakers against the Houston Rockets, Dillon Brooks sent a message that was similar to what he said in the 2023 NBA playoffs by commenting on LeBron James.
Brooks said in a media interaction that,
Ready to lock him up. He's been shooting the ball well. He's been playing well. I'm just there to make him tired, make him get into that fourth quarter early.
Turns out Brooks hasn’t learned from his past experiences. He is set to go at the Lakers superstar after commenting about James ahead of their game against the Lakers.
