Social media can be revealing. But it can also be cryptic. LeBron James generally speaks his mind on social media. But something he recently tweeted is still a big mystery for everyone. James posted an hourglass emoticon on his official X (Twitter) account a few days back. The mystery surrounding that tweet has been discussed throughout the basketball universe.

Before tonight’s game, reporters tried to get something out of James with respect to that emoji, only to be flatly denied by the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

Major questions are surrounding the Lakers heading into the final few days before the trade deadline. Their desire to improve their roster through trades has been the hottest topic of discussion. James threw his name into the ring with that emoji tweet. So when Dave McMenamin of ESPN asked if he would like to add any explanation, James replied;

No.

Those two letters just added to the mystery. Basketball fans are livid with not getting any clarity on the rumors.

Tonight’s game against the New York Knicks added to the discussions. After all, the Knicks are more equipped to make a run for the championship than the Lakers are currently. James’ agent Rich Paul recently mended his relations with the Knick front office. All of this has added to the rumor mill that James might prefer moving to Knicks.

The Lakers were at Madison Square Garden to take on the hot streaking Knicks. They Lakers have had a topsy-turvy season so far, and need to improve before the trade deadline. Additionally, they do not have the draft capital to trade for the players they want. Even though Rich Paul has come out and denied any trade demands from James, the rumors are only continuing to grow.

LeBron James is the biggest superstar in the league. Any rumor surrounding him is box office. Any discussions about him will light up the internet. So, it was obvious that James keeping his mouth shut has only added to the furor.

The NBA trade deadline is February 8th. Before that, this secrecy will only compound the inquisitiveness of fans around the world. They will have to wait and watch.
