After beating the defending champs in the Golden State Warriors, one might assume the Lakers will get used to pressure. But this isn’t at all the case as the Los Angeles Lakers have been an absolute bust in the Conference Finals’ Game 1 against the Denver Nuggets. The awful performance was led by none other than their star, “King” LeBron James, who was speculated to perform well. James’ performance was far from “well,” in fact, it was bad to the extent that it sabotaged the Lakers.
The Denver Nuggets cruised past the Los Angeles Lakers, 132-126, all thanks to the pressure they put up. LeBron James failed to prove his mettle as the “King” choked, making game-altering mistakes, eventually resulting in the Lakers’ loss. In the final minutes of Game 1, James missed two free throws, one game-tying shot, had one turnover, and gave away the ball easily.
Fans unleashed their wrath on James for having terrible dribbling late in the game as he gave away an easy steal to Nikola Jokic. If that wasn’t all, James was also alleged of playing “hero ball,” in an attempt to be like Michael Jordan, only proving he wasn’t.
While James did put up a decent number with 26 points nine assists and 12 rebounds, his antics late in the game proved deadly. James’ 26.3% shooting from the three-point line is also a reason for Lakers fans to worry. It’ll be interesting what changes James plans on bringing in Game 2, to get back from this brutal loss.

The Nikola Jokic- led Denver Nuggets were almost handed over the win towards the end, all thanks to LeBron James. James’ missed three-pointer to equalize the game where he could’ve passed it to Austin Reeves proved deadly. Not to forget his antics with the ball handling and the free throws. It’ll be tough getting back from such a performance in Game 1, but LeBron James is known for comebacks. Though, such a performance will haunt James and Lakers fans for a long time.
As for the remainder of the game, Anthony Davis led the way for the Lakers with 40 points, while AR Austin Reaves scored 23. For the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic was the hero, as always. Jokic scored 34 points while adding 14 assists and 21 rebounds. Jamal Murray followed with 31 points of his own. However, NBA fans didn’t let go of LeBron James for his horrendous performance in Game 1. Check out some of their reactions.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Lakers plan on getting back from this brutal loss in Game 1. Game 2 between the Lakers and the Nuggets goes down on Friday.
