The new look Los Angeles Lakers are among the top contenders to win the championship this upcoming season. They have added new pieces around their core who made it to the Western Conference Finals last season. These additions not only give them size but also the versatility to score from anywhere on the court.
They showed this versatility during their recent preseason showing against the Brooklyn Nets. Unlike their first game, LeBron James and Austin Reaves were playing and contributed well to lead the team to victory against the formidable Nets. The Lakers showed their three-point shooting and ability to crash the glass to get rebounds. In the press conference post-game, LeBron James talked about their ability to dominate any team in the league.
During the press conference, James talked about how they had the ability to torch any team from three-point range. He also lauded the team for having the size that allows them to get rebounds on both wires of the court. He talked about the speed of the offense that the Lakers could operate at which could catch any team off guard.
“If teams disrespect us from the perimeter, we have enough shooting to go out there and knock ’em down.have the ability now that whoever gets the rebound can bring the ball up. Everybody who’s on the floor for us can start the action. … We can get into our offense quicker than in the past.” said LeBron.
Lakers in prime position to win the championship
The Los Angeles Lakers were one of the worst teams to start the season last year when they started the season 2-10. They became the only team in over two decades to finish with a winning record after starting the season with such a worse record. They continued their success and made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals.
This was all due to the key decisions made by Rob Pelinka who made key trades to assemble good role players around their star duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
He continued to work after their loss to the Denver Nuggets and added new pieces to assist the team in achieving further success in the upcoming season as they aim to win a championship next season.
