Pheonix Suns superstar Kevin Durant has achieved a major milestone in his NBA career as of today. He becomes the 10th all-time top scorer in league history.

LeBron James, known as the all-time highest scorer in the NBA, congratulated longtime rival and friend before half time of the Suns vs Denver Nuggets game. Durant put up 22 points at the half. He needed only 17 to surpass Philadelphia 76ers great Moses Malone to climb up to 10th on the list. Having recently climbed to 11th on the list, getting to the top 10 is another feather in the cap for Durant.

Known as two of the best Small Forwards ever to play the game, both have incredible respect for each other. LeBron James and Kevin Durant are known for their incredible number of NBA Finals clashes in their time. They first squared off in the 2012 Finals between James’ title winning Miami Heat and Durant’s Oklahoma City Thunder. James and Durant have appeared in 14 games NBA Finals games against each other.

Both having played in the league for so long, James and Durant appreciate each other’s game. Both have been raving about each other’s achievements over the years. With Durant joining James in the top 10 list, and both playing in the same era, James was the first to congratulate Durant over this milestone.

Durant’s career has been extraordinary

Kevin Durant was selected as the 2nd overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the then Seattle SuperSonics. Since then, his game has developed to an elite level. Averaging 27.3 points 7.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists in the prior 15 seasons has helped Durant reach the top echelons of the NBA. This season so far, Durant is averaging 31.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists a game with fellow All-Star’s Devin Booker and Bradley Beal out for many games.

He won two NBA Championships with the Stephen Curry led Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018. Both were against the LeBron James led Cleveland Cavaliers. Named Finals MVP both times, James has seen first-hand the elite play of Durant.

LeBron James respects his long-time peer and rival. His appreciation for Durant is evident in their exchanges. And now both are part of the all-time list.
