The duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis has brought the Los Angeles Lakers much success in recent years. The duo took the Lakers to the Western Conference finals last year and even brought LA a chip in 2020. As such, it is natural for both to praise and appreciate each other’s game. It appears James has done just that in a recent statement.

James, in a recent interview, went on record calling Davis one of the greatest big men to ever play for the Los Angeles Lakers. This puts Davis in elite company. Considering that the other big men to play for the Lakers were Shaquille O’Neal, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. This is high praise for Davis indeed, especially coming from James.

James said:

[Anthony Davis] is great, man… AD's amazing. We've been here for the longest now, year six for me, year five for AD. We're both co-captains and he's just as much a leader of this ball club as I am.

He added:

"I have a lot of the guards that I take care of and he's got a lot of the forwards and bigs to take care of and visa-versa. We switch off, that's how our leadership is. AD’s everything that this franchise could want and more… He’s one of the greatest bigs to play for this franchise, for sure.”

James’ comments show that he sees Davis not only as an excellent player but as a great leader as well.

How is LeBron James placed as the new season comes up?

The Los Angeles Lakers are done with all their pre-season games. They won 2 of their 6 preseason games. Their last game against the Phoenix Suns ended in a loss for them as they went down 123-100.

They face the reigning champions, the Denver Nuggets, in the season opener. The two will lead the Lakers into the matchup with the Denver Nuggets, and the other players will look to them for guidance and leadership on the court.

As James enters his 21st NBA season at 38 years old, this could be one of the last seasons he has to win another championship. Hopefully, Davis and the other Lakers can help him realize that dream.
