“It is stupid!” LeBron James SLAMS ‘ridiculous’ gun laws in America in light of tragic UNLV shooting

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was talking at the pre-game press conference before the In-Season Tournament semifinals against the New Orleans Pelicans.

A reporter asked him about his reaction to the tragic mass shooting that had taken place on the campus grounds of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The Lakers and Pelicans are to play in Las Vegas. James said:

"It just goes back to what I said before about guns in America. I think it's such a longer conversation, but we keep dealing with the same story, this same conversation every single time it happens, and it just continues to happen. The ability to get a gun, the ability to do these things over and over and over, and there's been no change is literally ridiculous. It makes no sense that we continue to lose innocent lives, on campuses, schools, at shopping markets and movie theaters and all type of stuff. It's ridiculous." [H/T ESPN]

James paid homage to those who have died in the shootout by offering condolences to the victim’s families. He mentioned that his brother back home sent him a text saying to stay inside and be safe.

LeBron James has been advocating for stricter gun laws in the country throughout his career. But as per James, his calls have been falling on deaf ears. He believes nothing has been done to change the situation repeating year after year. He comments about that saying; 

"The fact that we haven't changed anything -- it's actually been easier to be able to own a firearm. ... It's stupid."

The shooting at the UNLV campus has resulted in the death of three people, with officers still attending the injured. The NBA superstar has used his platform to talk about such incidents throughout his career.

LeBron James has been an advocate for more gun control in the United States of America. Time and again when there has been a shooting incident, James has repeatedly mentioned increased gun control. He even called for increased security at educational campuses and schools to avoid such incidents happening again.

James was the lead NBA advocate for justice in the death of Breonna Taylor and the Black Lives Matter campaign. James is a strong activist and has used his position as the face of the basketball world to put forward his points.

LeBron James was inspired by former greats, Jim Brown, Muhammed Ali, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. James believes they spoke their minds when situations were worse. James wants his activism to be heard and have an effect.
