LeBron James has dedicated most of his life to basketball. He has been in the league for two decades. And, now is preparing for his 21st season as he is about to turn 39 years old. He’ll be donning the purple and yellow jersey while suiting up for the Los Angeles Lakers and continuing his championship hunt. Even though King James had retirement thoughts this summer, now he’s back and wants to ball out.
LeBron James isn’t retiring for at least one more season. And, we already know about his retirement plans. A basketball mastermind like him will expectedly be interested in NBA ownership. That’s exactly the case with Bron as former NBA superstar and Hall of Famer, Tracy McGrady revealed in his recent interview with GQ Sports.
The interview was about him promoting and discussing the future of his league, OBL. It’s a one-on-one league that debuted in 2022. After a lengthy discussion on it and even the current scenario in NBA. Tracy McGrady and the interviewer went on to discuss the coming expansion of the league which can add two more teams to the overall system.
When he was questioned about where he’ll put the two teams which will expand the league. Tracy didn’t just answer the question and went on to reveal some major inside information, hinting at LeBron James being the owner of one of those two teams. McGrady quoted: “I’ve heard that for the last three years, that it was gonna be an expansion team out here in Las Vegas. I heard that LeBron James is going to be the owner of that. It’s his team. I heard it through league channels.” All of this adds up and makes sense. As even LeBron James has shown willingness in being part of an ownership group once his playing days are over. After a pre-season game against the Phoenix Suns in Las Vegas, Bron advocated for the expansion there.
King James said: “He (Adam Silver) probably sees every single interview and transcript that comes through from NBA players. So, I want the team here, Adam. It’s the best fanbase in the world. And I would love to bring a team here at some point. That would be amazing.” Tracy McGrady though believes the second team should be in Seattle and add up in the Western Conference. The Hall of Famer even suggested moving the New Orleans Pelicans to the East.

King James has always been more than a player throughout his career. We have seen him coach, mentor, and even operate the front office whenever he wants to.
Fans have even called him, “LeGM” for his involvement in the front office. And, that’s going to stay even when he’s not on the floor and has joined the ownership group.
As during the inaugural “TNF in The Shop,” sitting alongside Maverick Carter, Jamie Fox, Dez Bryant, and others. LeBron James revealed his role as a team owner. He quoted: “I don’t wanna pick the players but I wanna be a part of the process. I wanna be part of the process because I know players and I watch them all. But I don’t wanna do their job. But I’m hiring you to do a job and giving you a timeline to do your job. If you do not do your job, you know, it’s probably time.”
