The Los Angeles Lakers faced a challenging start with a 2-10 record last season. However, they persevered and managed to make it to the Western Conference Finals. Despite their efforts, they ultimately fell short against the Denver Nuggets in that series. Following this disappointing outcome, there were speculations about LeBron James considering retirement. Many fans expressed skepticism about this sudden decision. His agent, Rich Paul, in a recent interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio, shed light on his client’s retirement plans.
Rich Paul, who has known James since 2002 and has been representing him since the establishment of Klutch Sports Group in 2012, recently shared his thoughts on his potential longevity in the NBA. When asked about the possibility of him playing until he reaches the age of 45, Paul expressed confidence in his client’s capabilities. According to Paul, if there is one person he believes can achieve such a feat, it is James.
“He’s one guy that I’m not going to say no about. I think it’s important to understand what really motivates him. I know it, obviously I’ve been around him for so long that I can tell you what his day probably looks like without even talking to him. As long as his mind is there, as long as he’s still excited about playing in the NBA — in addition to his health — absolutely. I always tease him that if your athleticism went away, you would just be Karl Malone and that’s fine,” he said.
LeBron James is still one of the best players in the league and is constantly adapting as he ages. He averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists this past season, and as long as LeBron maintains the fitness level he displayed last season, he can play well into his 40s.
After a disappointing end to the previous season and LeBron James breaking the NBA’s all-time scoring record, fans wonder if the basketball superstar might be contemplating retirement. However, recent comments from LA Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka have injected a glimmer of hope into the hearts of fans.
