“LeBron James, will you give me a second chance?” Former Lakers star and franchise show mutual interest in a reunion

“LeBron James, will you give me a second chance?” Former Lakers star and franchise show mutual interest in a reunion

Lebron James

Lebron James is looking to get all the help he can get entering his 20th season. And a trade for Kyrie seems less and less likely now with KD staying with the Nets. According to reporter Mark Stein, The Lakers are considering adding their 2020 point guard Dennis Schröder depending on how the roster develops and at the same time, the point guard too shares a similar interest in the same.

Schröder and The Lakers did not have the best going the first time around, Dennis Schröder was reportedly offered a four-year, 84 million dollar contract extension which he turned down. Unfortunately for him, he was traded in the off-season and had to make do with a one year for 5.9 million dollars with the Boston Celtics. While Schröder commented that money alone was not a factor but that he also felt he wasn’t the right fit with the team.

“That’s the reason I was hesitating a little bit. The way I played is not how Dennis played over his whole career in the NBA so that’s the reason I was like, ‘Okay, I have to see how it’s going next.’ That’s the reason why I even didn’t talk to the organization and said, ‘Listen, we can talk about (the contract) after the season. I want to concentrate during the season to finish it.’ Now, in the situation I’m in, I think I’m 100 per cent comfortable so far. You feel the appreciation, you feel the organization is trying to help you, your family, your friends, or whatever. It’s been great so far. I mean, this is all I wanted and I think we can accomplish something big here.” Dennis Schröder talking to MassLive’s Brian Robb.

What The Lakers Can Get Out Of Schröder

With the Lakers’ considering bringing back Schröder to Los Angeles, they have to worry about the problems they faced with the point guard the last time. What the Lakers need at this time are shooters and Schröder is not known for his shooting abilities. Dennis Schröder though excels as a play-maker and may be able to take the steam and attention off of LeBron.

After being traded from the Lakers, Schröder spent an underwhelming season with the Celtics and Rockets. Currently, an unsigned free agent, his skills as a shooter may not be of value to the roster but he can be a good play-maker while LeBron is off the court, though the two together might not seem like a good idea.
