As a Los Angeles native, Ice Cube is a cult figure in the City of Angels. The multi-awarded rapper definitely knows what’s up regarding the one of the greatest teams in basketball history and has witnessed the ups and downs with them. Ice Cube attended ESPN’s ‘First Take’ where he was interviewed by Stephen A Smith about the prevalent Lakers situation and how it felt while watching Lakers go through a bad phase. The world-renowned rapper confessed that it was not a season that he loved watching, but he has faith the Lakers will make a come back soon.

The rapper believes that the Lakers were going to be alright under the new coach and would be back at the top sooner than later. When asked about the Clippers, he called them “The Str**pers”, to which he did not bat an eye. With those beady eyes and a goatee, he was so sure that the noisy neighbor’s Clippers would not account for much, ever. He has a lot of faith in Darvin Ham, as his experience will benefit the Stars and youngsters alike.

“It’s a breath of fresh air to have him come through the door. Seems like the players will be able to relate to him and it’s all about if the players will play for him. Only the players know that, it’s a great hire so let’s see if it all works out.” sounding very pleased about the arrival of Darvin Ham, was Ice Cube. His love for the Lakers stems from the fact that he grew up watching the show-time Lakers and Magic Johnson while being born in the era of the 1971-72 Lakers dynasty.

“We’re never worried about the Strippers. They’re going to do what they’re going to do. They’re going to be what they’re going to be which is Junior Varsity. That’s just it. We’ve heard them singing that they’re going to climb the mountain in LA for many, many years and it’s never happened so I don’t expect it to happen anytime soon. Shout out to Kawhi though.” Clear trash talk from a true purple and gold fan, as Ice Cube hilariously answered Stephen A Smith’s question of the Lakers being a force in Los Angeles itself compared to its city rivals, LA Clippers.

A dysfunctional team, poor decision making, lack of rhythm, and good players to fill in roles, all these factors led to the Lakers having a record of 33-49 in 2021-22 and crashing out of the playoff. Nevertheless,  O’Shea Jackson Sr. , Ice Cube, never gave up on them, and how could he. Watching a legendary Lakers team in hia boyhood years would have made him fall in love with the Lakers, a bond that is much stronger than anything else.
