The Los Angeles Lakers have taken a dominating 3-1 lead over the defending champs. This is the first time since 2016 that the Golden State Warriors are facing a 1-3 deficit. LeBron James and the Lakers secured their home-court advantage, as they take Game 4. Los Angeles had a 3-1 lead against the Grizzlies as well in the first round, though they got rid of them in six games.
The Warriors had a seven-point advantage going into the fourth quarter. Stephen Curry had a dominant performance, scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists, posting a triple-double. Though Steph didn’t have much left when it mattered the most. On the other hand, for the Lakers, it was King James who led the way, as he put up 27 points and 9 rebounds. Although going into the second half, it wasn’t James or Anthony Davis who had stepped up for the team.
Lonnie Walker IV, coming off the bench, had a clutch performance. This is only the second postseason appearance for the 24-year-old. Walker averaged around eight minutes a game so far into the postseason. In Game 4, Lonnie was in action for 27 minutes, scoring 15 points and three rebounds. Though above all, he had the task of guarding Curry. Walker was locked in on defense guarding Steph, as he would also go on to hit a clutch shot over Curry.
His suffocating defense on Steph had fans on Twitter impressed. Both the players went at each other, with Walker helping the Lakers prevail in the end. While Curry couldn’t finish it off in the last possession, Walker had made buckets over Steph himself. Austin Reeves came into his help as well, putting up 21 points, and being the incredible scoring asset he is.
Lonnie Walker may expect more minutes from Darvin Ham

The fans were incredibly amazed by Walker’s unexpected performance. Though he was low on scoring, Walker did a great job on the defensive end and made shots when it mattered the most.
During the regular season, Lonnie played 23 minutes a game while he scored 11 points on average. Whereas in this postseason, Walker was only allowed eight minutes a game. After his Game 4 performance, the coaching staff will definitely grant him more action as his performance in the clutch was a major help for the team. Fans, on the other hand, had nothing but praise for Lonnie, who got the best out of Curry.
It was James’ team who had gone up 3-1 against the Warriors prior to this series. The Dubs’ rival gave them a hard time, as the defending champs are on the verge of elimination. With the Warriors hosting the Lakers for Game 5 at home, it will be interesting to see whether Los Angeles can end this series on the road.
