The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal series, extending their lead to 3-1. The Lakers’ 104-101 victory has now pushed the defending champion Warriors to the brink of elimination from the playoffs. The matchup between both teams has been highly competitive throughout the series and the same happened in Game 4. But for the Lakers, a new star emerged, shone brighter than ever, and carried them to victory.

Lonnie Walker singlehandedly carried the Lakers out of the jaws of defeat, scoring 15 points in the fourth quarter. He almost surpassed the entire Warriors’ score of 17 points in the fourth quarter by himself. Walker’s performance is one for the record books as his name now stands alongside Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. Lonnie Walker IV has now become the first Laker to have 15+ points off the bench in the 4th quarter of a playoff game since Bryant scored 17 points exactly 26 years to the date on May 8, 1997, against the Utah Jazz.

Walker has now etched his name in the Lakers’ history books. His teammates wasted no time in showing him love. While the likes of Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga were complaining about the lack of opportunity, Walker got one chance and he took it. In response to Walker’s performance, LeBron James said, “We don’t win that game without Lonnie Walker tonight. That’s for sure.

Others joined the bandwagon to celebrate Walker as commentators screamed, “It’s the Lonnie Walker Game.” Thanks to Walker, the Lakers are now one step closer to advancing to the Conference Finals.

Lonnie Walker etched his name into Lakers’ folklore with his performance in the fourth Quarter. He didn’t do this while being on the court throughout the game, but rather after coming off the bench. Walker scored a marvelous 15 points, three assists, and two rebounds while shooting 66% from the field. He had zero points through three quarters but stepped up when it mattered most.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis also played key roles in helping the Lakers secure the win. James scored 27 points, nine rebounds, and six assists while Davis added 23 points, 15 rebounds, and two assists. Even Austin Reaves managed to leave his mark with 21 points as the Lakers put on a show!

The Warriors on the other hand saw Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson drop disappointing performances. Stephen Curry led the way for the Warriors with his third playoff triple-double while Poole, Thompson, and Draymond Green struggled to make an impact on either end of the court. Thompson finished with nine points in 41 minutes, while Poole scored zero points, adding just two assists and three rebounds in 10 minutes.

Curry’s triple-double with 31 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds proved to be futile as the Warriors now sit one loss away from elimination.
