The Ball brothers were one of the most famous groups in the high school basketball scene when they played for Chino Hills high school and were the most dominant trio in the history of high school basketball. It was not only due to their flashy styled dominance but also because of their loud and brash father LaVar Ball, who always made the headlines and brought national media attention to the brothers.

LaVar has been making absurd claims about his eldest son Lonzo Ball since the LA Lakers drafted him with the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 Draft. Recently, he said that if Lonzo was in a better predicament, he would be better player than Stephen Curry because he is stronger, faster and shoots better than Curry.

Lavar also expressed that he was unhappy when Kobe Bryant started mentoring Lonzo after he got drafted by the Lakers. Lavar felt Kobe only did this when Lonzo became a superstar and wasn’t there during his childhood. Lavar believed he had mentored Lonzo on his journey to stardom and didn’t want Kobe to take over the mentorship role.

Lavar said, “He don’t. Nah. Why he need mentorship? Let me tell you, I always say this; don’t try to mentor my son now after I got him there. Where was you mentoring him when he was five or seven years old, or ten? Come mentor him now before he a superstar, or before he where you can get some light on him. Don’t come trying to train my son now..”

What are LaVar Ball’s three sons doing right now?

The Ball Brothers were expected to continue their dominance from high schools. This hasn’t really been the case. Lonzo and LaMelo Ball were both selected with the top 3 picks in their respective draft with Lonzo going second in 2017 and LaMelo going third in 2020. Their brother LiAngelo Ball hasn’t made it to the league at all. He has tried to played in the G-League but has failed to make it to the NBA.

Recently, LaMelo signed his rookie extension with the Charlotte Hornets, which could be worth over $200 million dollars over the next five years, but like his brother Lonzo who hasn’t played a game in two years due to a knee injury, LaMelo has also started struggling to stay on the court.

He played only 36 games last season after being an All-Star the previous season. Despite these challenges, both Lonzo and LaMelo possess great talent and are still very young. They have the potential to become top players in the league in the future, even though they haven’t yet achieved the dominance expected of them on the court
