Los Angeles Lakers score 150 points for first time since 1987 with help of LeBron James and Anthony Davis
James and company have the best odds of making it out of the Play-In
LeBron James and Anthony Davis
LeBron James and Anthony Davis hosted the Indiana Pacers in a performance that has been delivered for decades. The tough matchup ended with the Lakers edging out, 150-145.
In the end, the Pacers were on track to make a comeback after being down by 17. However, it was too late for Tyrese Haliburton and company to possibly edge this one out.
AD dominated throughout the game, leading the team as he put up 36 points and 16 rebounds while shooting over 71% from the field. James had 26 points and 10 assists. The Lakers are on a fantastic run as they cruise with a three-game winning streak.
However, this game will go down in history, as the squad put up 150 points after 37 years. The last time the Lakers had 150+ points in a game was back in 1987 when they beat the Phoenix Suns, 155-118.
While AD and James led the way, Spencer Dinwiddie and Austin Reaves also had a big-time performance. Reaves finished the game with 25 points and 8 assists, whereas Dinwiddie scored 26 points on 72% shooting.
Both players have been crucial assets for the Lakers, as seen from their previous performances and contributions. With that being said, the squad seems to be on the right track to end the season, being the favorites to make it out of the Play-In.
LeBron James and the Lakers are the strongest among Play-In teams
The Lakers are currently on a three-game winning streak, as they seem to have glued the purple and gold on the 9th seed. Three teams, including the Dallas Mavericks, the Phoenix Suns, and the Sacramento Kings, are battling for the 6th seed.
Regardless of the squads above, the Lakers are expected to face the Golden State Warriors in the Play-In, or possibly the Houston Rockets. Led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the two big men carried the team past tougher opponents earlier this season.
Compared to both teams, the Lakers have been much more dominant. James and company will face a tougher squad once they do manage to win the first Play-In game. Following their championship in 2020, the Lakers have been in the Play-In almost every other season. Last year, the squad managed to make it out of the Play-In, going as far as the Conference Finals.
This will be the team’s third Play-In appearance in the last four seasons. So far, the Lakers have been successful in each Play-In tournament. Going in to face the Warriors will be a rematch of last year’s Conference Semi-Finals. With that being said, it will be interesting to see how far the Lakers can go this postseason, once out of the Play-In.
