Major League Baseball is in the later stages of its playoff season. Recently, the series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Philadelphia Phillies was concluded. The series would decide who would go on to play the World Series, the finals of the MLB. The series went down to Game 7. The Arizona D-backs took the win in the end.

What caught the attention of many, however, was that Bryce Harper of the Phillies walked into the game wearing a Patrick Beverley jersey. Beverley is an NBA player famous for his antics and loud style of play. Beverley has been known to underperform in key games and that is perhaps what made people wonder why Harper would wear his jersey in a decisive Game 7.

Perhaps Harper wore the Beverley jersey to commemorate Patrick Beverley’s trade to Philadelphia’s basketball team – the Philadelphia 76ers.

In their 141-year history, this marked the Philadelphia Phillies’ very first Game 7 appearance. Unfortunately, they couldn’t handle the immense pressure and ultimately succumbed to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

NBA fans flocked to social media to express their bewilderment at Harper wearing Beverley’s jersey. Some even went as far as to suggest that Harper donning the jersey might have been a jinx that contributed to the Phillies’ series loss.
