Lou Williams, ex-Los Angeles Clippers player, weighed in while speaking on the show ‘Run it Back,’ on Kelly Oubre’s confrontation with the referees during the aftermath of the Philadelphia 76ers’ recent loss. He asserted that Kelly Oubre Jr. throwing the profane “b*tch” word could get him fined up to $75k by the NBA.

Kelly Oubre Jr. lost his cool at the end of the Philadelphia 76ers 108-107 loss against the LA Clippers. This was a result of Oubre, who Clippers’ Paul George fouled on his layup attempt for a potential game-winner before Kawhi Leonard blocked his shot. He then rained a series of NSFW insults at the referees when they missed the foul, which wasn’t in his and the team’s favor.

During the show, Lou Williams saw the funny side of the event and revealed that his actions might cost him $25k per b***h. He said:

I thought that over there was gonna be 50. Now, watching this, this might be 75. This is $25k per b*tch.

However, Williams was unaware that Oubre had used the profane word thrice, bringing the total to six. When he realized this, he quickly redid the maths and arrived at a new fine for the 76ers star. Although the referees’ call was bad, as admitted by the league, Oubre being abusive was a line he shouldn’t have crossed.

Kelly Oubre Jr. apologized for NSFW insults at the referees

Kelly Oubre Jr. is no stranger to controversies, especially when it comes to match officials. Almost 5 years ago, Oubre Jr. was fined a sum of $10,000 for his comments aimed at the match referee during the Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets game.

A remorseful Oubre, tendered an apology for his actions. And from the words, he sounded like a man who regretted his actions and was keen on redemption. He said in the post-game interview (via PHLY_Sixers):

We’re not perfect. The refs aren’t perfect. I want to apologize for just losing my cool because that’s something I work on each and every day, try to represent God in the best way I possibly can, and that wasn’t it. I just ask for forgiveness.

The 76ers really needed that win as they’ve fallen off the pace in recent times, and with their star MVP, Joel Embiid, still out injured, they are currently on a run of 1-4 in their last five games. Hopefully, there won’t be any more bad calls when they meet the Cleveland Cavaliers next.
