The NBA bubble which was held in Disneyworld during the 2020 season provided fans with a range of unforgettable moments. One of them involved the unlikely duo of Lou Williams and rapper Jack Harlow. The former LA Clipper star found himself in the midst of controversy when a photo surfaced of him with Harlow at Magic City, a gentleman’s club. Due to the rules of the lockdown, the players were obviously not allowed to leave their quarters, which led to huge controversy on social media.

More than 3 years later, Lou Williams broke his silence, shedding light on the events that led to him being at the club in the first place. The NBA veteran claimed that he had been on excused leave to attend the wake of a father figure.

However, one thing led to another and he  found himself at Magic City after grabbing a bite with friends, including Jack Harlow:

I came out the bubble, I got permission to go. Was COVID tested everyday. His wake was on Walker street, right by Magic City. We left the wake. We said we were gonna grab something to eat .. then head back to the bubble. Then Jack Harlow walks in. This where sh-t kinda goes left.

The group decided that they should go out for drinks. Williams revealed:

Jack had recently got the number one record, the WHATS POPPIN record. So when I seen him, I was excited to see him. I was like, ‘bro, let's take a shot. To celebrate the song or whatever'. And so as we were taking the shot, Jack say, ‘Yo, is it cool if I take a picture?” .. I said I don't see a problem with it since we both got our masks on. But I had the bubble mask on. We took the picture, it went out, and I think at that time we underestimated his celebrity.

Lou Williams was amazed with the attention Jack Harlow was getting

Williams was well aware that he could get into trouble if news of the night got out. However, he was amazed due to the attention that he saw Harlow getting, out in public. The rapper had just released  his hit single, “WHAT’S POPPIN,” and the attention resulted in the player deciding to be in the picture.

While at Magic City, Jack Harlow proposed taking a photo, capturing the moment. Williams, with his bubble mask on, agreed, believing that the masks would shield their identities. Of course, that did not happen.

Williams reflected further on the incident. He explained  that he had underestimated how huge a celebrity Jack Harlow had become:

At that time, we underestimated his celebrity.

Regardless, with the player being on excused leave, he did not face heavy action. Williams only received a warning from the NBA and ensured that he did not leave the quarters after the incident.
