“I talked to him, I said he has a nice beard” Luka Doncic delivers COMEDIC reaction on reuniting with former teammate Kristaps Porzingis during Mavericks-Wizards showdown
Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic
NBA superstar Luka Doncic got along with his former teammate and Washington Wizards player Kristaps Porzingis after the game between Dallas Mavericks and the Wizards. Before he was traded out, Luka and Porzingis were a top duo for the Mavs. Kristaps was termed to be the second star after Luka when he still was at Dallas.
In the post-match interview, Luka Doncic was asked about his ‘short and sweet’ meet with Porzingis. He quoted, “I talked to him, he has a nice beard. I saw his comments when he said uh but you know he’s a real professional, uh after three, you know you can go against that team, the trailer. You can say a lot of things, but he’s always nice, nice to Dallas, always nice to me, so I would respect him.”
The duo played two seasons together from 2019-2021 for the Mavs. Porzingis was out the entire 2018-19 season with an ACL injury which was Doncic’s rookie year. In the 2020 playoffs, Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis pushed the Los Angeles Clippers to the wire but ended on the losing side. Doncic scored a 40-point triple-double, while Porzingis played very well and provided utmost support to Luka.
Luka Doncic’s 30-pt run held by Orlando Magic as the Mavericks end up on the losing side
The Mavs star Luka’s consecutive 30-point game streak to begin the season ended when the Dallas Mavericks lost to a ‘comprehensive’ Orlando Magic 94-87. The Magic team was successful in keeping the Mavs superstar under 30 pts. Luka now remains under Wilt Chamberlain’s best mark of 23 consecutive 30-point games to start an NBA season, a record which he set during the 1962-63 campaign.
Luka has been in a golden touch since he played in his rookie year. His career highlights include three All-NBA selections and a runners-up position in the Western Conference finals. Certainly, this record would have added another feather to his cap. However, he was unlucky to have not broken it even if he looked in supreme touch.
The Slovenian star is currently the NBA’s leading scorer. He scored 24 points after scoring 30 or more in each of the Mavericks’ first nine games. He shot 9-for-29 overall and 2-for-11 from 3-point range. The Magic played a top-class game without their rookie star Paolo Banchero, as he missed out due to a sprained ankle. Chuma Okeke scored eight points and seven rebounds as he stated that their main focus was Luka and they had a specific game plan for him.
