The ascension of Jayson Tatum is no surprise to anybody, and certainly not to Luka Doncic. The 2022-23 season is perhaps the best season to paint the future NBA posters. Not only the NBA is witnessing the younger talents leading the MVP voting list so far but also leading their team’s chances in the NBA finals. When the league is still dominated by the greats like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry, these young stars have already established a bigger fan base than ever expected. Ja Morant, Jayson Tatum, and Luka Doncic have already become franchise players showing that they can lead their city’s dream.
After the Dallas Mavericks loss against the Boston Celtics both the stars spoke highly of each other. Doncic gave Jayson Tatum his flowers and praised the Celtics’ star. “It’s always special….Always fun to play with those kind of guys.” Doncic also alluded to Tatum’s candidacy in the MVP race. “He’s an amazing player, top candidate for MVP,” Luka said about Tatum. Despite winning the game Tatum knows what Luka stands for and competing against such gifted players is always fun. “Obviously one of the best players in the league, special talent and somebody I respect. So you just like competing against a guy like that,” Tatum said.
The discussion about the new face of the league has caught pace. Several analysts have declared Giannis Antetokounmpo as already the face of the league ahead of Stephen Curry and LeBron James. However, the future of the face of the league remains an open discussion between Tatum, Doncic, and Ja Morant. Doncic believes Tatum has crossed the future of the league phase and is already the face of the league. “He’s [Tatum] shown that’s he’s not the future face of the league, he already is and he’s an amazing player,” Doncic said.

Jayson Tatum and Boston Celtics defeated Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks to record their 14th win of the season. In the third quarter, the Celtics had as many as 27 points lead over the Mavericks and it looked like the win was going to come easy for them. But Mavericks came strong and scored 13 of the next 15 points to cut the lead to a single digit with 3.30 remaining on the clock. However, Tatum scored some crucial points to defeat the Mavs 125-112.
The game between Dallas and Boston turned into a personal matchup as Tatum scored 37 points and 13 rebounds. Leading the Mavs Doncic scored team-high 42 points. Jaylen Brown also scored 31 points for the Celtics. Tatum is 4th in the total points in the 2022-23 season and along with Brown, has formed one of the best duos in the NBA.
