Despite Luka Doncic‘s impressive average of 46.7 points per game from January 23rd to 27th fell short of securing him the title of Western Conference NBA Player of the Week. The honor went to Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns, who maintained an average of 37.5 points per game during the same period.

Doncic achieved a career and franchise high by scoring 73 points against the Atlanta Hawks. This remarkable performance surpassed Joel Embiid‘s 70-point game earlier this season against the San Antonio Spurs. Notably, it equaled the fourth-highest output in NBA history, tying legends Wilt Chamberlain and David Thompson.

Booker clinched his second award of the season and the ninth in his career, further extending the Suns’ franchise record. Simultaneously, on the night Doncic set a record with 73 points, Booker notched a season-high 62 points in a loss to the Indiana Pacers. Doncic’s production for the Dallas Mavericks without Kyrie Irving is 37.5 points, 11.3 assists, and 9.1 rebounds. In his last three games, he has averaged 48.7 points, 13 assists, and 9.7 rebounds.

This season, Luka Doncic has been on fire, boasting an average of 34.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 9.6 assists per game. On the other hand, Devin Booker maintains solid averages of 28.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assists. In the Western Conference standings, the Dallas Mavericks hold the 8th position with a record of 26 wins and 21 losses, while the Phoenix Suns sit at the 6th spot with a record of 27 wins and 20 losses.

This comes off the back of a record-breaking performance where he scored 73 points against the Atlanta Hawks.
