Luka Doncic stands alone in NBA history with wild feat despite 0-2 hole against Suns

Luka Doncic for the second time put up a spectacular feat against the Phoenix Suns. Despite his wild game in Footprint centre, the Mavericks will be returning home down 0-2. A situation that Luka would not wish to be in, nor does he deserve to be in after carrying the offence for Dallas Mavericks in the manner that he has.
Luka, despite his incredible feats is no match the Phoenix Suns. Luka, without question is an incredible talent and the future of the league. But carrying a team all by himself in NBA playoffs, is not Luka’s cup of tea. The 23 year old All-Star is still a young player who needs guidance and on-court support from the expertise and understanding from the veterans of the game.

Luka lights up a show, but it did not matter
Dallas Mavericks is a young but talented team. The Phoenix Suns on the other hand, has a well built team. Suns, this season, have shown the league what an ideal team should be. By having the right proportions of young talent, experienced and mastermind veterans along with strong centers.
The Mavericks throughout the two games had matchup problems. A problem that the Suns capitalized on to grab a 2-0 series lead. They took Game 1 with a 121-114 victory and a 129-109 victory in Game 2. Game 2 saw the Suns light the Footprint center gym on fire in the 4th quarter, when the capitalized on every mistake of the young Dallas team.
Mavericks failed to find the answers for Phoenix’s size and athleticism as the Suns shot a season-high and franchise playoff-record 64.5% from the field. Eleven Suns players attempted field goals shooting 50% or better from the field. Doncic pulled off 35 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. He even dropped 13-22 from the field and 5-10 from 3 point line. With that, he became the first player ever to have a playoffs PPG of 33.5. Despite a wild Luka pulling off everything his magic can, he failed to secure a win that could have very well been their’s.
Luka is a talent that the league adores. He has managed to shock the fans with every game and left his doubters in dust. But all that feat gets left behind in the NBA playoffs, where the best of the best battle it out with the championship on the line. For Luka to win the Championship for Dallas, he needs a team. A team that capitalizes on Luka’s talent and guides him at times needed. Luka too has to improve the defence side of his game. Defence plays an integral part in winning championships. With Luka loose, like he is in the defence, he allows his opponents easy buckets.
As for the Dallas Mavericks, it is important that they build the right team with right pieces around Luka, if they wish to return to winning ways.
