Macy Gray is back in the headlines as she wasn’t allowed to show her support for Brittney Griner during her show. Her band was supposed to wear “Free Brittney Griner” T-shirts but they were stopped from doing that as they were performing live on NBC’s Today show. Brittney Griner recently pleaded guilty for drug smuggling charges in Russia after four months of being wrongfully detained by the Russian government as the United States Government said earlier. Many believe she has done that so she can enter into the negotiations of a prisoner trade between two countries. So standing for her and showing out support to her is absolutely right by Macy Gray but she wasn’t allowed to do that and still, there’s no reason for it.
Brittney Griner is now surely a political prisoner as many don’t even want any part of her in their stories and the ‘Today’ show is one of those many names. Macy Gray’s keyboardist Billy Wes arrived at NBC studio wearing a “Free Brittney Griner” T-shirt but that t-shirt was lost when he was performing on-air. Later he revealed that he was wearing the same T-shirt and “Today” Honchos told him that he couldn’t wear that on the stage and made him turn it inside out. He didn’t really give an explanation for the reason behind that but was surely frustrated with that act.
In fact, the whole band was and even Macy addressed it in an interview with TMZ. She talked about the backstage drama and even said how they weren’t allowed to wear “Free Brittney Griner” T-shirts. Many fans around are again comparing the situation with the league. As the Boston Celtics once showed out their love and support for their mate in Russia by wearing t-shirts of similar type and they weren’t stopped. Of course, both the situations are different but the message is same and important. So even the fans can’t be called out as the wrong ones.

Macy Gray after the show addressing TMZ about the story around the T-shirts quoted: “That really bummed me out and made me sad…We wanted to wear them on the show and they said no, because I guess something happened…I don’t think it’s too political. It’s a human being that’s in a really horrible situation and there’s people that have power to do something about it. That’s what they should do…”
Macy Gray also brought in Joe Biden and asked him for help as now he’s the only guy who can bring Brittney back home on American Soil. Everyone around now is just praying for her including the singer as her situation is just sad and unfortunate.
