Magic Johnson‘s 30-year-old son makes him proud while being a role model for LGBTQ+ individuals over the world. His son Earvin Johnson III also known as EJ Johnson came out as gay in 2013 with full support from his family. EJ has gone on to star in a TV show which got him worldwide fandom from the younger generation. “I’m really proud of him because he’s getting so involved and letting his voice help other people too.”, said Magic to People Magazine.
Magic Johnson claims his son’s positive influence on the world is saving people’s lives. “He’s saving a lot of people’s lives and people don’t even know, and I’m so proud of him,” said Magic. EJ has communicated with many struggling youngsters about the troubles of revealing their sexuality to the world. EJ instils confidence in these youth and has been a role model to thousands.
“A lot of young people will call him and ask, ‘How did you come out’ or ‘Can you help me? I haven’t told my parents,’ and man, he gives so much great advice,” added the Los Angeles Lakers legend. Magic has high praise for EJ’s work in the community and his son’s enthusiasm to help youth. Magic Johnson has been an inspirational figure post his retirement and it looks like these qualities have been passed on to his son.

EJ Johnson is following in the footsteps of his father Magic Johnson by helping his community
Magic Johnson famously was forced to prematurely retire from the NBA due to his HIV/AIDS diagnosis in 1991. Since then Magic has made it his goal to prevent the spread of AIDS and help those affected by the disease. The Lakers icon started the Magic Johnson Foundation which educates and helps prevent the spread of AIDS within communities of color.
Magic’s foundation also provides scholarships to students in need and is currently helping 250,000 people directly or indirectly. Johnson has done a great job to spread the word about AIDS across the country and his organization is well respected. MJ’s ‘I stand with Magic’ program was one of the largest and most successful campaigns for AIDS.
The Magic Johnson Foundation has provided numerous generous donations to other organizations that indulge in education about AIDS. The organization has branched out in multiple directions since its inception. One of them is helping underprivileged youth and providing them access to sports events and ball games. Magic Johnson is one of the most charitable NBA legends and it looks like his son is following in his footsteps.
