Magic Johnson was talking on a recent episode of ‘Club Shay Shay,’ where he quoted, “I’ve never punched any teammate … I think that if he could, he would take that back. But I grab you just like Coop grab me. Bro, we listen when you have a dude like Michael Cooper guarding you every single, OK, you get tired of that.” Magic also added that Green is an essential player in the Warriors’ offense.
Magic has highly talked about Draymond Green every time he gets a chance. While praising his role for the Warriors, he said, “You’re the trigger man. You make everything happen at Golden State. Everybody gets shots because of you, Draymond, whether you setting a pick or are you passing it to them.” The Warriors could have a championship run only because of Draymond Green’s power-packed performances for the team.

But Green wants more effort from the players as Draymond is the leader in the defense section, he can see that the commitment isn’t there, and he might be right when he says they are a terrible defensive team. The game’s talking point was Klay Thompson’s ejection in the second half and the Warriors then crumbled down. They were a top defensive team last season but now they have to make efforts to retain that spot again.
The Phoenix Suns led by Devin Booker scored a daunting 72 points in the first half, and it seems like the Warriors’ defense let them loose, leading to carnage. It was the third game in a row that they had conceded 70 or more by the half, and Draymond said they needed to be more committed on defense. Green is a crucial player for the Warriors, and he needs to step up so that the younger players in the team can follow in his footsteps to keep the defense ring tighter.
