Magic Johnson has been a terrific role model to several athletes of the newer generation. The legend battled through the worst health conditions and the deepest adversities of his time. Needless to say, he over came every obstacle in his way.

The former Los Angeles Lakers superstar and arguably the greatest franchise player ever revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he was not supposed to be drafted into that team. Let us just say, Michael Jordan would have had a completely different career.

“Jimmy, no questions about it. Can you believe that if I had went to the Bulls there would be no Michael Jordan in Chicago.” Johnson was the best prospect in the 1979 NBA Draft but everybody criticised him for being too soft to become a great player in the league.

Many of you may not know how Magic Johnson actually joined the Lakers. There was no doubt in anybody’s mind that he was about to be drafted No.1 Overall but what had everybody confused was that the Lakers and Chicago Bulls had euqal odds of landing the top pick.

The league decided it was best to settle the score with a coin toss. Just imagine the entire fate of the league was left at the mercy of a coin. Ultimately the Lakers won the toss and went ahead selecting Magic Johnson. Today imagining the franchise without him is almost impossible as he built the dynasty back in the 80s.

Similarly, as Johnson mentioned in his interview, Michael Jordan’s fate would have had a completely different outcome as well. But both players won multiple championships for their franchises. But having them pair up in the same team would have traumatised the rest of the league.
