Los Angeles Lakers decided to not trade Talen Horton Tucker on 2021 deadline for Kyle Lowry as they wanted to retain on their young scorer. However, after the havoc caused by the star-studded team in the recently concluded 2021-22 season, Magic Johnson and the purple and gold army have finally decided to throw the kitchen sink in the 2022-23 off season market, acquiring veteran Patrick Beverley.
Given that Patrick Beverley is the type of player who everyone hates when he’s int eh opposite side, but his vibe and energy can cause the most celebrated players down. Perhaps this could be the reason why Magic Johnson has decided to like the veteran, who challenged Steph Curry. He got onto Twitter to express his opinion about the spoken off player.
Magic Johnson opinionated upon Patrick Beverley’s inclusion
Johnson said, “I used to hate Patrick Beverly when he played against my Lakers lol but now, I love him because he’s on our team and he’s going to help my Lakers get to the playoffs!
“I love the pickup of Patrick Beverly! With his defense, grit, toughness, and basketball IQ, Laker Nation will love him. He brings it every single night!”
In order to get Patrick Beverley, Los Angeles shipped Talen Horton Tucker and Stanley Johnson off to the Utah Jazz. Certainly not huge losses. The Los Angeles Lakers will be poised to get back to the playoffs in 2023 after a very disappointing campaign last season. If LeBron James and Anthony Davis can stay healthy, the sky is the limit. New Head Coach Darvin Ham will also be hoping his influence can help Russell Westbrook thrive.
That being said, the Los Angeles Lakers are seeming to change their fortune before the start of the upcoming season. With Beverley looking to shine alongside AD, LeBron and Brodie, will we finally the legendary of this star-studded team coming on display against Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets and other giants in the 2022-23 season? Remains to be seen.
