Reigning DPOY Marcus Smart gets disrespected by bizarre NBA All-Defensive Team decision

Marcus Smart in NBA All Defensive Team

Boston Celtics guard is having a dream-run for this team in the 2021-22 season. Having not only led their defensive unit to turn the fate around for the team, he also went onto register himself as the Defensive Player of the Year. On the verge of making his first ever NBA Finals appearance, Smart was included in the NBA All-Defensive team. But there is one person in particular who seems to have a different upon the reigning DPOY.

To those who are not aware, let me tell you. As per Celtics insider Keith Smith, Marcus Smart got all but one first place vote for the First Team-All Defensive honor. As bizarre as it may seem, he is the reigning DPOY after outracing the likes of Suns’ Mikal Bridges, Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr, Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo. All of whom are inducted in the NBA All-Defensive Team.

Boston Celtics fans don’t need to launch an investigation to discover the identity of this lost voter. The truth is out there, and all that’s required is for that person to open his/her eyes. Regardless, Marcus Smart will continue to do what he does best as the Celtics have a bigger fish to fry in the postseason.

Marcus Smart’s value in the Celtics team could be visualized with his return against the Miami heat in Game 2. Although some might suggest that Jayson Tatum led the scoring charts for the team with 27 points. However, it was Smart’s 24 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds which managed to bully the home team.

Not only that Marcus Smart even went onto reduce the numbers of Jimmy butler and ensured that Bam Adebayo could not score dominantly in the paint, as the latter attempted to take only 9 shots in the entire Game 2 showdown.

Will this affect the reigning DPOY? Doesn’t feel like it as he is enjoying the form of his lifetime and is very well on the path of making his first ever NBA Finals appearance.
