If there is one man who has significantly contributed on either ends of the court for Boston Celtics, it is none other than reigning DPOY, Marcus Smart. With all the attention being thrown towards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum because of their attacking prowess, Smart has been nothing but resilient on the defensive end for Ime Udoka’s Boston Celtics.
Not being present in Game 1 against the Heat in EC Final series, Smart’s absence on the defensive end haunted the Celtics players as Jimmy Butler registered a significant 40-point game. However his return in Game 2, ensured that Boston Celtics’ voids were filled as Smart not only led the defensive unit, but scored points as well.

Come game 3, Celtics were majorly haunted by the visiting team to an extent where they trailed by as many as 26 points in the first half. To make matters worse Marcus Smart twisted his ankle when he tried to secure an offensive rebound. But unfortunately, his ankle came under Kyle Lowry’s back.
Being down on the floor, Smart was evidently caught by the game-camera screaming in pain until he was helped by the locker room. The footage from the pave-way showcases how badly Smart was suffering as he kept on yelling in agony whilst being carried to the locker room.
That being said, knowing that his team was in dire need of his presence. Smart decided to give is all as he stormed his way back onto the court against all odds. Look at the video below to see the kind of reception and standing ovation he got from the home fans.
Although Marcus Smart managed to score 16 points for his team as they lost 109-103 in Game 3, his presence and form remain to be one of the deciding factors in the EC Final series. Will we witness the legendary of Marcus Smart growing in the upcoming games? Or will the Miami heat make them suffer even more? Remains to be seen.
