Mark Cuban has made his way back to the NBA headlines and it’s again a bit controversial like always. Recently, Shams Charania shocked the entire world by dropping updates on the NBA in-season tournament which has been on the discussion table for some good months now. The insider revealed that the league and NBPA are working on it together and gave away some major updates. But they weren’t enough to impress Mark Cuban.
The league and NBPA aim at beginning the in-season tournament by the 2023-24 season and Mark Cuban wants the Dallas Mavericks to have no part of it. According to the current frame work, there will be cup games in November and 8 teams will be advancing to the single elimination tournament and the final for it will be played in December. All these games will be a part of the normal 82-game schedule and only the teams making it to the final will have to play one extra game. The advancing eight teams will also get to be determined prizes and the Mavs probably won’t be in it as owner Mark Cuban isn’t a fan.
Mark Cuban discussing the NBA in-season tournament in a recent interview of his quoted: “In terms of in-season tournament, I am not a fan I definitely not a fan. It’s just… I can see the Mavs just not participating at all you know or resting our best players. Because until they give me one of those things back there (points at Larry O’Brien Trophy) the Larry O’Brien for that the prize is a prize.”
Further Mark Cuban added: “That’s really up to two seasons… Breaking it just having a mid season tournament no. Play two 41- season games with 5 games playoffs’ series may be that’s what we wanna do… Just breaking it up I think that’s an admission that we have a problem and we’re trying to deal with the symptoms rather than the problem.”

Mark Cuban once again came very close to getting fined for his take. As he is already boycotting an unreleased tournament of the league where he’s an owner. But he made some sensible points and since then is viral all over the internet. It was very bold of him to make such comments but that’s again what we know and love him for.
