The situation involving Brittney Griner is far from settled because the WNBA star has been imprisoned in Russia since February 2022. The centre from the Phoenix Mercury arrived in Moscow to compete in the Russian Premier League for UMMC Ekaterinburg. Sadly, when vape cartridges containing cannabis oil were found in her luggage, she was imprisoned by Russian officials.
She was charged with drug trafficking because she brought drugs into Russia, where marijuana is illegal. The appeal date for Griner’s nine-year jail term has already been set by the Russian court, and she will return to court on October 25.

Brittney Griner’s current stance

Griner’s appeal coming in 20 days
