Matt Barnes is a very recognisable character that comes from the NBA circle. After having a fairly good career with many teams, he is now spending time as an expert on sports television and also hosts his own podcast called ‘All The Smoke’ along with Mark Jackson who also played in the league years ago.
The former player bounced around the league for a majority of his career and played alongside legends such as Kobe Bryant and Stephen Curry right before retiring 2016. His best seasons came from his time with the Los Angeles Clippers where is averaged 10.3 points and 4.6 rebounds shooting 46.2% from the field. He maintained the same level of performance until 2015 when he commence his journey with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The summer of 2015, Matt Barnes had been traded to the Memphis Grizzlies after having a confrontation with then head coach of the Clippers, Doc Rivers. As the player had described it to Vlad, Rivers “bullied” him without a reason which led to a slight conflict between the two. Unfortunately, this was also when he went through a divorce with his ex-wife Gloria Govan.
The couple parented two twin boys together before spliting it. Even though the NBA player was the one who called for the divorce and claimed that he was “ready to move on,” he still battled with depression for long after it due to him being separated from his children. Amid all this chaos, his friend Derek Fisher had also found his way out of his life.

According to Matt Barnes, he was with his former partner and children on a road trip when he found out that Fisher had been involved with Govan. She had forgotten to disconnect her Bluetooth before existing the car to grab some food when Barnes heard Fisher on call. He said, “I’m like “Yo I fu**ing know this voice and I’m hearing ‘baby I miss you, I can’t wait to see you again and we had so much fun in New York’ and I’m like what the f**k, that’s Derek’s voice. So that’s the first time I’m like what the f**k is going on?”
Matt said he warned Fisher to stay away. The next time he got on call with his sons, Fisher was apparently on his way to their house (Barnes’ house) to spend time with Gloria and other friends. The former Clipper said he borrowed his friend’s Bentley and sped to his house. He also said he jumped the fence and attacking Derek who was sitting beside his ex-wife. Derek had apparently wanted to “talk things out” but Matt refused to let go.
