Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban calls ‘Send Help’ based Mural of Luka Doncic “Disrespectful” in a leaked email
Mark Cuban expectedly isn't a fan of a mural depicting a helpless Luka Doncic.
Luka Doncic and Mark Cuban
The Luka Doncic-led Dallas Mavericks have had a rough season thus far this year after reaching the Western Conference Finals all the way last year. They now have a record of 24-20, which puts them temporarily in fifth place in the Western Conference rankings.
Dallas‘ Luka Doncic has been doing everything for them on the court this season, bearing the team’s load. Fans, however, are sick of seeing Doncic try to handle things on his own, and some have even painted a mural of Doncic pleading for assistance. Mark Cuban, the owner of the Mavericks, was not a fan of such murals.
Dallas graffiti artist and Mavericks fan Preston Pannek painted the artwork. He declared that while being a huge admirer of the group, he was tired of seeing Doncic handle everything by himself. Cuban in the leaked emails said, “It is disrespectful. But it’s your choice to do what you want. If that’s the way you want to be a fan, go for it.”
Pannek on the other hand defending his mural said, “We have arguably the best basketball player in the world and we can’t attract a free agent here, and he’s doing a ridiculous amount of work, and it’s gonna wear him down because we can’t get him any help. Luka deserves a sidekick, Bojan Bogdanović would be an awesome pair. They complement each other really well. We need another offensive scorer who can give Luka some help. He can’t just play every minute of every game.”
Pannek isn’t all wrong with his take and Luka Doncic really needs a sidekick and even the team needs one more star to make things happen at ease. They need someone who can be effective on both the defensive and offensive end of the court. Especially, when Luka is out for a breather. The team can touch new heights when they have another guy who can be trusted with the ball when required.
